LeRoy R. Finnegan, 90, of Camanche, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Unity Point Health Trinity in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous. LeRoy was born on August 29, 1928 in Phoenix, Illinois, the son of Ralph and Edna (Klinck) Finnegan.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from the Ready Reserve in 1983 as a Master Sergeant. While on leave, he secretly eloped and married Ernestine Kitchen on November 25, 1950 in Galesburg, Illinois. LeRoy worked in the fabrication department at the Rock Island Arsenal for 36 years before retiring in 1983.

He was a member of the Snow Lodge #44 A.F. and A.M., Silver Creek Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star (past patron), the Buffalo Bill American Legion #347, and attended North Ridge Community Church in Eldridge, Iowa. He enjoyed being outdoors whether it was going camping or traveling. He is survived by his children, Kathy M. Finnegan of Camanche, Iowa, Denny M. (Kris) Finnegan of Metamora, Illinois, Michael L. Finnegan of Davenport, Iowa; sister, Patricia (Everett) Holland of Davenport; 8 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine; and siblings, Genevieve Wessels, Mildred Morgan, Duane Finnegan.
