Leroy Sears, 72, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019. He was born on March 28, 1946, in Hobart to William Harold and Lenora Opal Sears. Family visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, January 8, from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, January 9, at 10:00 A.M. at Bethel Church with Pastor Ron Meador officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

Leroy graduated from Augusta High School in Augusta, Kansas. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, from 1964 to 1967. He was also a retired Duncan firefighter.

During his days off at the fire department, he worked as an EMT and medical assistant. He also owned several businesses in Duncan, including a laundromat, a furniture restoration shop, and a restaurant. He married the love of his life, Wilma Connell, on November 5, 1999, in Duncan.

His favorite pastimes include watching the OU Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys play football, watching OKC Thunder basketball, hunting, fishing, and camping. But, he loved to spend time with his family. Survivors include his loving wife, Wilma; children, Tara and husband Micah Harper, Marsha Sue and husband Chris Short, Sandra Denise Short, and Jimmy and wife Nina Short; grandchildren, Logan and Emma Harper, Daniel and Alainea Short, Sueanna, Stevie, James, Nicholas, and Chian Patton, and Canyon Short; eight great grandchildren; and brother, Charles Paul Sears.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lenora Sears; and sister-in-law, JoAnn Sears. Serving as pallbearers will be Logan Harper, Keith Sears, Jared Sears, Kevin Sears, Kristopher Sears, and Gaylon Blankenship. Honorary pallbearers are Donas Jones, Charles Sears and Earl Schoolcraft.

Memorial contributions can be made in Leroy’s honor to the Taylor LeNorman Cancer Center in Duncan or to Bethel Missions. Online condolences can be made to the family at www. whittfh.com .
