Leslie “Les” Jan Carson April 4, 1947 ~ February 24, 2019 Leslie Jan Carson passed away on February 24, 2019 in Ogden, UT at the age of 71. He was born on April 4, 1947 to John Henry Carson and Virginia Marie George in Detroit, MI. He was the oldest with a younger brother.

Les graduated from Northwestern High School in 1965. He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, prior to joining the United States Army. While stationed at Fort Sheridan, IL, he met Rosann DeNoyer at the Chicago USO.

After serving a tour in South Korea, Les and Rosann married on October 11, 1969 and had four children. He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 23, 1977. He received the priesthood on June 11, 1978.

Les, Rosann, and their children were sealed as a family on August 3, 1978 at the Washington, D.C. Temple. Les served in the Army for twenty years and retired in 1987 and settled in Layton, UT with his family. He graduated at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA where he studied Arabic and Russian.

He learned Korean while in the Army. His main joy was being with his family. He loved his wife and his children and grandchildren.

He often gave his children counsel with their problems that meant so much to them today. He had a sense of humor and loved to play little jokes like hiding the baby Jesus from the crèche. He enjoyed putting puzzles together, and his children often gifted a variety of puzzles for his birthday, Father’s Day or Christmas.

Never having kept a journal, Rosann saved all his letters when he was overseas so his children could have part of his history and thoughts. Les leaves behind his wife, Rosann Carson; his children, Jennifer (Justin) Lawrence, David Carson, Leslie (Jonathan) Mohlman, and Elizabeth (Jacob) Beuhring; his grandchildren, Tyler Shelton, Benjamin Mohlman, Melina Mohlman, Shea Lynn Lawrence, and Aurora Lawrence; his brother, John Carson; his aunt, Audrey Johnson; and his cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Westwood LDS Ward Chapel, 2123 North 2000 West, Farr West. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Monday, March 4th at 10 a.m. at Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale.
