Boyd Glen Alvis October 5, 1940 ~ February 17, 2019 Boyd Glen Alvis of Pleasant View, UT, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away at the Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, UT where they enjoyed spending the winter months. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Norma Pedersen and Osmond Alvis on October 5, 1940 in Logan, UT and raised in Newton, UT.

He attended the local schools and graduated from North Cache High School in 1958 where he enjoyed track and field. He later attended Weber State University. He married Sondra Olsen on May 22, 1959 in Hyrum, UT.

The union was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Pleasant View, UT where they raised their three daughters, Christy (Steve) Wall, Terri (Alan) Hinckley, and Janis (Allen) Stenquist. He was employed as a Special Agent at the OUR&D Railroad, Crew Chief at Precision Bilt Homes, and retired as a Manager of the Ogden LDS Cannery.

He loved his Savior Jesus Christ and His Gospel. He loved learning and reading good books. He served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including Ward Clerk, Counselor in the Bishopric, High Councilor, Ordinance Worker in the Ogden Temple in the Baptistry, and teaching in various organizations.

He spent hours studying the scriptures and preparing for his Gospel Doctrine Class. He was very interested in politics. He was an exceptional gardener and took pride in his “temple square” flower beds.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, three daughters and their husbands, 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren (with another one on the way), and a sister, Ruth Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dale Leon Alvis. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant View 17th Ward Chapel, 900 West Pleasant View Drive, Pleasant View, UT.

Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.

The family would especially like to thank Brent Ballif, Lindquist Mortuary, for his untiring efforts in coordinating arrangements and keeping us informed every step of the way.
