Obituary of Linda Post Linda Widmark Post, 71, of 31 Ellis Ave. Jamestown, NY, passed away at 6;25 a.m. Sunday, October 21, 2018, in UPMC Chautauqua WCA. A lifelong area resident, she was born July 29, 1947 in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of the late Karl Emil and Edith Christine Erickson Widmark.

Linda was a 1965 graduate of Jamestown High School and earned her bachelor of science degree from Dennison University and her master’s degree in field biology from the State University of New York at Fredonia. For the past 10 years she was the office manager for Val-Pro Sanitary Supply Company in Jamestown. During her teaching career she taught science at the Panama Central School, Falconer Central School and for the Gustavus Adolphus Children’s Home.

Many may also remember her from “Red Pepper Jam”, an all women’s blue grass band. Surviving are two sons; Evan K. Machlan of Elma, WA, William Cody Post of Denver, CO, a daughter; Jessica Slayback of Los Angeles, CA, five grandchildren; Maggie Machlan of Baltimore, MD, Lucy Machlan of New York City, William Wyatt Post of Denver, Roscoe Slayback, William R. Slayback both of Los Angeles. a brother; William Dolan of Las Vegas, NV and her companion of 12 years, Joseph Gerstel.

She is also survived by her cousins, Carol Sandberg, Steve and Pat Sandberg, Rick and Diane Sandberg. Per Linda’s wishes, services will be private and visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to the Jamestown Audubon Society, 1200 Riverside Rd.
