Lloyd’s Obituary Lloyd Clark Gintert, 91 of Braceville passed away peacefully on February 23, surrounded by his loving family after fighting a long battle with cancer. He was born on October 31, 1927 in Braceville, Ohio the son of the late Walter C. Gintert and Clara (Clark) Gintert. Lloyd married the love of his life, Jean Marie Brazin on May 12, 1951, they have enjoyed 67 years of marriage together.

He has lived in Braceville for most of his life, and was of Methodist faith. After graduating from Braceville High School he served his country in the US Army for 17 months attaining the rank of Private. Lloyd started working at the age of sixteen for Republic Steel Corporation during World War II; continuing after his service, he started as a laborer and progressed to Superintendent of the 56″ Hot Strip mill at Warren Republic Steel.

He retired after 40 years of service from Cleveland Republic Steel as Superintendent of the 84″ Hot Strip Mill and Hot Strip Finishing in 1982. After retirement, Lloyd and Jean spent the next 30 years working together in their business, JG Porcelains, selling their products in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, New York, Michigan, and Pennsylvania at Malls and craft shows. They enjoyed the traveling, visiting several casinos and made many friends through their business adventures.

Lloyd was a member of VFW in Newton Falls, and (AISE) American Iron & Steel Engineer’s. He was one of the founders of the Republic Steel Supervisors club for retirees, and founding member of the 55 & over senior league (Lloyd’s League) on Thursday mornings at Riverview Golf Course. He loved playing baseball in his youth, playing for the Gintert team in the city league and softball for Republic Steel.

He also enjoyed golf and bowling. Lloyd was a loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, Cavaliers, Ohio State Buckeyes, and the LaBrae Vikings. Family meant everything to him, from coaching girls’ softball for his daughter’s team, to going to all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s sporting events.

Lloyd would never miss a game. Lloyd was known as the Mayor of Nelson Mosier Road. Lloyd and Jean belonged to several dance clubs and were members of the Lake Milton Yacht Club for over ten years.

Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, sister Kathryn Roberts, and brother Harold Gintert. He is survived by his loving wife Jean Marie Gintert of Braceville, daughter Janice (Timothy) Gibson of Braceville, sons, Marty (Carolyn) Gintert of Toledo, Ohio, Randy Gintert of Braceville, Rory Gintert of Hartland, Wisconsin, two sisters, Frances (Merrill) Spahlinger of Lake Milton, Ohio and Donna Lee Clifford of Braceville, 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Calling hours will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Friday, March 1st from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.

Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Saturday, March 2 at 10:00 am with Pastor John Jaros officiating. Following services, Lloyd will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Newton Falls. The family has requested that all donations please be made to the Alfred Lopez Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund.
