Obituary for Loretta Juanita White Ledford Loretta White Ledford died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, October, 11, 2018. Born on May 2nd, 1927 to Maggie Goforth White and Jonathan Landon White of Erwin, TN, she was the last living sibling of a large family of seven brothers and four sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, David, (Bill) Ledford, her brothers, Jonathan Landon (JL) White, JR, David ( Lloyd) White, Herman White, Carlton White, (infant), Ray White, Howard White, Gene Edward White and four sisters: Mamie Honeycutt, Hattie Robertson, Alta Bailey, Pauline Barnett, three stepsisters, Madge Harris, Nell Renfro, May Higgins.

She is survived by her children Renee Ledford Pitts (George), David Ledford (Judy), and Dan Ledford (Michelle Dodson). Grandchildren: Andrew Leach, (Chelsi), and Jonathan Leach, (Jessie), and Cole Ledford; Three great-grandchildren Kage Leach, Kruze Leach, and Alexander Jonathan (AJ) Leach: Many nieces and nephews whom she adored. Loretta grew up in the mountains of Unicoi County, went to school and graduated from Unicoi County High School, and began work at the Southern Pottery as an artist painting the Blue Ridge Dishes.

She always said that was the best job she ever had. Her love for people and her faith in God were catalysts for living a life serving and loving others whether it was in the volunteer capacity as Girl Scout volunteer, Sunday School teacher, as a pastors wife,, or in her job as a sales representative for the Johnson City Mall stores. She worked for over 30 years in retail at Britts, Millers, Proffitts, Parks Belk and Belk helping customers choose handbags and jewelry.

Her smile, work ethic, and positive attitude led to many sales awards. She was active in Senior Citizens programs, loved her championship Seniors’ bowling team through Holiday Lanes, and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Johnson City, and past member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church and Skyline Heights Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Rise Up or the Activities Department at NHC Loretta’s family would like to thank the staff at NHC who loved and cared for her during her time there as a resident, and for those who visited and prayed for her. The family will greet friends to share memories on Monday, October 15, 2018 from 5:00 pm until a Celebration of Loretta’s life at 7:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services Johnson City with Pastor Bob Huddleston officiating. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday at Monte Vista Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are: David Ledford, Dan Ledford, Andrew Leach, Jonathan Leach, Cole Ledford, and George Pitts. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 am. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.
