CHAMPAIGN, IL- Loretta Lawyer, 89, of Champaign, IL, passed away at 4:56 PM(EST) on September 13, 2018 at Life’s Journey Hospice of Avon, Indiana. Loretta was born on June 4, 1929 in Urbana, IL, a daughter of Merle and Mildred Towner. She married Bill Lawyer in 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1986.

They had three children; Diana Arvidson of Danville, IN, Phillip Lawyer of Santa Maria, CA and Gary Lawyer. Diana and Jeff Arvidson blessed Loretta and Bill with three grandsons; Christopher, who died in 1991 at 5 years of age of leukemia, then Brian and Derek who survive. Loretta attended Urbana schools and graduated from Urbana High School in 1947.

She worked at Lendales Drive In restaurant for 14 years, Skelton’s Fountain for 2 years and Kraft Foods for 10 ½ years. She worked in home care for 5 years and retired in 2002. Loretta enjoyed crocheting, music, playing the organ, line dancing and cooking.

She especially loved helping others.
