Obituary for Loretta McFarland Print Loretta McFarland, 90, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019. Loretta was born October 20, 1928 in Kersey, Colorado, the youngest of seven children of Nicholas and Josephine Peters. Loretta moved to Cheyenne in 1942 and graduated from St. Mary’s School in 1946.

On November 18, 1946, she married the love of her life, James “Jim” McFarland. To this union was born one daughter, Louann. She and Jim enjoyed 65 years of marriage making Cheyenne their home.

She was employed as an Assistant Treasurer for the Laramie County Federal Credit Union in Cheyenne until her retirement in 1985. Loretta enjoyed waterskiing with her husband and many of the firefighter families at Sloan’s Lake every summer for many years. She also enjoyed serving as an assistant Brownie leader.

Loretta is survived by her daughter, Louann and left to cherish her memory are her “granddog” Raisin, Gary Bounds, Col. Bounds of Fort Knox, KY; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim McFarland; three brothers; and three sisters.

A Vigil will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, January 31st at 2:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home with a brief burial in Olivet Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Schrader Reception Center.
