Bay City, Michigan Beloved mother and significant other passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at her home following a short illness. Age 57 years. The daughter of Carol (Ueberroth) Miller and the late Larry Carey, Lori was born on June 2, 1961 in Saginaw, Michigan.

Lori was employed for Covenant HealthCare as a Nurse for 19 years. She then went on to earn her M.S.N. and was a Nurse Practitioner for the past six years. Her last semester of college, Lori participated in a medical mission trip to Zambia, Africa.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Lori enjoyed spending time at Lake Margarethe in Grayling and at their home on the Au Sable River and especially trips to Florida. Surviving are her significant other, Craig Smith, Bay City; two sons, Nicholas (Jayme Reiber) Helmkamp, Linwood; Nathan (Erin) Helmkamp, Ypsilanti; her mother, Carol Miller; two brothers, Larry Carey and Ben Miller; aunt and uncle, Joyce and Dave Kerr; many nieces and nephews.

Lori was preceded in death by her step-father, Dennis Miller. Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Pastor Michael Korte will officiate.

Private entombment will take place in Chapel Hill Mausoleum. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home where the family will be present on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until 4:00 p.m., on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Covenant HealthCare Foundation Nursing Scholarship.
