Obituary for Lorne Campbell Black Jr. Lorne Campbell Black, Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 15th, 2018 at the age of 98. He was born on June 10, 1919 in Wilkie, Saskatchewan to Nellie and Lorne Black, Sr. When Lorne was 3 the family moved to Port Huron, Mi where Lorne grew up sailing and swimming on Lake Huron. He enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing and golfing.

Lorne attended Port Huron Community College and the University of Michigan, earning a BA in business and, after his service in WWII, an MBA. During his years in the Army Lorne spent 3 ½ years in Europe and was a participant in WWII’s D-Day. Upon his return he married Patricia Kempf.

Lorne worked for Marathon Oil Co. for his entire career. The job led to the remarkable opportunity to raise their young family in Ann Arbor, MI; Arlington Heights, ILL; Findlay, OH; Geneva, Switzerland and Dornholtzhauser, Germany. He was a member of the Ann Arbor Club, the Barton Hills Country Club, Co-founder of UP Club, and a life time supporter of the University of Michigan and the Victor’s Club and a past president of the Glacier Hills Association.

Lorne is survived by his children, Bruce (Helen) and Pam (Joe), two grandchildren, Kathleen and Patrick (Kate) and one great grandson, Theo. He will be greatly missed and always loved. Memorial donations in memory of Lorne may be made to Ava House.
