He shared his life with his wife, Lydia, of 48 years, five children, Monika (Ed) Robertson, Marianne (Brett) Resseguie, Robert (June) Schlesiger, Therese (Jason) Hans, and Krista (Matt) Curtis, and 12 grandchildren, William, Christine, Evan, Ben, Ava, Maia, Ella, Gabby, Ruby, Olivia, Finley, and Grace. Lothar is also survived by his family in Germany, including his sister Irmengard Kuhn and son her Andreas, his cousin Hildegard Schneider-Fox and her childrenAlois, Johannes and Gabi, and their families.

Lothar valued family, appreciation of hard work, integrity, and faith. For those who knew him, they would often see him tending to his yard and beautiful flowers, enjoying coffee break with his guys, and feeding the birds. As a child, Lothar survived World War II in Germany.

He was later selected to become an apprentice and then became a master mechanic for Volkswagen. He realized the opportunities that America offered, and labored tirelessly for 45 years, achieving his dream of building and running his own business, Lothar’s Autohaus Inc. Lothar led by example, took pride in his work, and valued his reputation. Over the years, those who knew him grew to love and appreciate this wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Today we cry tears of love, and thanksgiving to God, for giving us this genuine man, which we can only hope to emulate. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9:30 am Thursday at St. James Church, Johnson City. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm Wednesday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. Those wishing to express their sympathy are welcome to send flowers, as that would bring Lothar the greatest joy. Please sign the guestbook at www.
