IEZZI, LOUIS R., 89 OF BLAIRSVILLE, PA passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at his home. He was born March 29, 1929 in Blairsville, PA, the son of the late Joseph Iezzi and Rose (Iezzi) Iezzi. Louie was a life long member of the Blairsville Area attending SS Simon & Jude Catholic Grade School and graduated from Blairsville High School in 1947.

He attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown where he received a degree in Vocational Education to teach building trades and masonry trades. He was a member of the Bricklayers Union of Greensburg Local #75 from 1947-1975. He was also employed as a brick contractor in the Blairsville area.

He taught bricklaying from 1970-1980 at Johnstown Vo-Tech where he also served as VICA Director of the school and as Department Head of the Construction Department. He also taught bricklaying from 1980-1991 at Indiana Vo-Tech where he served as VICA Director until his retirement in 1991. He helped to organize the Blairsville VFW Marching Band and played for 20 years, serving as Director the last 10 years.

He also helped to organize the Blairsville Community Concert Band and served as Assistant Conductor. Louie had been a member of the Blairsville Fire Department for 19 years. He joined the Blairsville Elks #406 in 1958 and was elected Exalted Ruler in 1983.

He was secretary of the Elks from 1991-2013. He was appointed to the Elks State Youth Activities Committee and was elected Chairman in 1984 and 1985. He was appointed District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler of the West Central District in 1988 and also served as Chairman of various committees of the West Central District.

Louie was a member of the Blairsville Elks Golf League for many years and he enjoyed the golf trips to Myrtle Beach, SC. He was also a member of the Blairsville Italian Society since he was 18 years old. He was a member of SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville where he had sung in the men’s choir.

Louie is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dolores P. (Petrarca) Iezzi, Blairsville, PA; son, Joseph S. Iezzi & wife, Patty, Homer City, PA; son, Gary R. Iezzi, Blairsville, PA; grandchildren: Kelley Klock, Sam Iezzi & wife Jessica, Nicole Baker & husband Kevin, Joey Iezzi & wife Lisa & Andrew Iezzi ; great grandchildren: Tessa, Cassidy, John, Jake, Austin & Everly; brother-in-law, Ronald “Riz” Petrarca & friend Jackie and nephews, Chris & Brian Petrarca. He was preceded in death by his son, Louis “Butch” Iezzi in 2005. The family will receive friends at the James F. Ferguson Funeral Home, Inc., Blairsville, PA on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8PM and also Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.

The Elks will conduct services Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 7 PM in the Funeral Home. A wake service will be held on Sunday at 7:30 PM in the Funeral Home. Prayers of transfer will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 9:15 AM, prior to a funeral mass at SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA at 10:00 AM.

Fr. Stephen R. Bugay will officiate. Interment will be in the SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
