Obituary of Louise de Leeuw Louise M. de Leeuw, 87, died on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Louise was born on June 24, 1931 in San Francisco, CA to the late Marshall and Bertha Shedd Mason. She married Frank de Leeuw on August 23, 1952 in San Jose, CA.

A resident of Poughkeepsie for fifteen years, she lived for forty-five years before that in Washington, D.C. Louise received her Bachelor’s Degree from Stanford University and Masters Degrees from Catholic University (Education) and the University of Maryland College Park (Psychology). She worked as a nursery school teacher and for many years as a therapist. Louise was an active member of the Friends Meeting in Poughkeepsie.

She loved spending time with her husband, her children and grandchildren and so many others who benefited from her love and attention. In addition to her husband, Louise is survived by her sons, David (Susan McCallister) of Berkeley, CA, Peter (Marjorie Brache) of Chapel Hill, NC, Nicholas (Julie Riess) of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Benjamin (Tonya Coughlin) of San Francisco, CA, as well as six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and sisters Laura Campbell and Sarah Erskine. She is predeceased by her brother Curtis Mason.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 4:00 pm at the Friends Meeting House, 249 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to the American Friends Service Committee. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave.
