Louise’s Obituary Helen “Louise” (Erskin) Shearhart, 89, of Mound Valley, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 13, 1929 in Hallowell, Kansas to Charley and Beatrice (Sala) Erskin. As a young child, she moved with her family to Mound Valley where she attended school and graduated in 1947 from Mound Valley High School.

On December 14, 1947, she and Robert L. “Bob” Shearhart were married at the Free Methodist Church in Mound Valley. In 1948, Louise worked at Hallmark Cards in Parsons before moving to California in the early 1950’s. In 1965, the family returned to Mound Valley.

From 1972-1973, they lived in Lancaster, Texas before returning to Kansas where they made their home. Louise was custodian at Fairview School near Bartlett from 1970-1973. From 1978-2008, she and her husband were co-owners of Shearhart Recycling Center in Mound Valley where she also served as CFO.

For several years, she also worked as bookkeeper and accounting manager at Trinity Analytical Laboratories in Mound Valley. Louise was the founder of Mound Valley Lighthouse Church and especially enjoyed fellowshipping with her brothers and sisters in Christ. She also enjoyed gospel music, cooking, arts and crafts, collecting lighthouses, and was an excellent seamstress.

Louise and Bob loved putting on an extravagant Christmas display every year for their family, friends, and community to enjoy. Survivors include: One Son – Charles Shearhart and his wife, Mylenda, of Coffeyville, KS Four Grandchildren – Charla Cox and her husband, John; Caleb Bynum, Brynn Balentine, and Karlie Shearhart Five Great-Grandchildren – Elliot, Savannah, Katie, Daniel, and Skyler One Brother – Donald Erskin of Parsons, KS She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Shearhart, on December 10, 2008; and two brothers, Frank Erskin and Jimmy Erskin. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Mound Valley Lighthouse Church.

Burial will follow in Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Memorials are suggested to the Mound Valley Lighthouse Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
