Obituary for Lowell Thomas Burton Lowell Thomas Burton (1938-2018) After a noble battle, fought with strength, humor, and dignity, Lowell Thomas Burton, 80, peacefully took his final breath the afternoon of July 26, 2018. Lowell lived his life helping others, working hard, and always finding reasons to laugh and have a good time. He spent his younger years traveling the country, but eventually found himself right back in Groveport, Ohio, the only place he ever called home.

Lowell was an electrician and proud 50+ year member of Local 683 where he maintained his membership even after founding Burton Sign Company in 1986. Additionally, L.B.’s love of sports allowed him to positively impact the lives of young baseball, and later softball, players through his role as a volunteer coach. Eventually, he traded in his time at the ball diamond for the golf course where he made lasting memories with the greatest group of friends a person could ever hope to have.

He is preceded in death by his father Thomas Burton and his step-mother Charlotte Burton. Lowell is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Burton; his son, Mark Burton of Lake Tahoe, CA. ; his daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Shane Owens; his sisters, Sylvia Palsgrove (Ed), Margie Hamler (late husband, Mike), Barbie Weldon (Bob); and his brother, Tom Burton of Atlanta, GA.

; and many loving nieces and nephews, along with many loving friends. Sandy, Sherry, and Shane invite you to join them at The Links of Groveport in The Paddock Pub’s event room on Friday, August 3 at 4:00 PM where we will toast L.B., share some of our favorite stories, and truly celebrate the husband, father, coach, and friend that was Lowell Thomas Burton.
