Obituary for Lucille Velma (Butsch) Relleke Lucille Velma (Butsch) Relleke, age 97, died Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Braun Nursing Home where she had been a resident for a little more than two years. Surviving Lucille is her oldest son Robert of Evansville and her youngest son James of Saint Louis Missouri. Her sister Geraldine (Tootie) Vaught of Evansville is her only surviving sibling.

Lucille was a daughter, sister, wife, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, as well as an aunt and cousin to many. She was preceded in death by her husband Sylvester (Wes) in 1981 and her middle son Richard in 2013. A grandson Daniel died in 2006.

Her father Louis Butsch died in 1958 and her mother Amanda (Miller) Butsch in 1972. Her siblings Willard died in 1978; Evelyn (Butsch) Meyer in 1990; Leroy in 1997; and Clara (Butsch) Gentry in 2004. Lucille lived in Evansville and Haubstadt until 1959 when she moved to Waterloo Illinois with her husband who worked at Chrysler and two younger sons, eventually ending up in Ellisville Missouri a suburb in Saint Louis County.

Eventually Lucille and her husband returned to Evansville in 1974 living at the intersection of Bender and Boonville-New Harmony roads. Several years following her husband’s death, Lucille moved to the Diamond Valley Lake area where she lived until taking up residence at Braun Nursing Home. Lucille had various jobs throughout her lifetime many of them in the area of service as a waitress and counter person at Dunkin’ Donuts, various school cafeterias and the cafeteria at McGraw-Hill Book Publishing Company.

Her favorite pastime was sewing and her proudest accomplishment was at the age of 80 making her granddaughter’s wedding dress. Her sons are thankful for family and friends who visited her during her final years of life which made the necessity of nursing home care a truly pleasant and happy experience for her and to the professional and exceptional quality care she received from the Staff at Braun Nursing Home in Evansville who treated her as family and for Kindred Hospice Care in her final month of life. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Monday, May 7 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. 1st Avenue, and again from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 8 at Holy Redeemer Church on Mill Road where the Mass of Resurrection will follow immediately after.

Burial will be at St. James Cemetery in Haubstadt with a luncheon to follow at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ (Highland). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Peter’s United Church of Christ – Highland, 7014 Darmstadt Road, Evansville IN 47710 or a charity of your choice.
