Obituary for Francis E. Bittner Francis E. Bittner, 83, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”. 2 Timothy 4:7 Francis was born July 2, 1934 in Evansville to the late Edward and Rose (Reinhart) Bittner.
He was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, current member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and had worked at Whirlpool Corporation for 44 years before retiring in 1996. Francis enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and raising his cattle. Surviving Francis are his wife of 64 years, Marilyn (Helfrich) Bittner; two daughters, Judy (Tim) Babcock and Janice (Tony) Paul; two sons, Randy Bittner and Russell (Mindy) Bittner, all of Evansville; four brothers, Melvin Bittner, James (Beverly) Bittner, Chester (Earleen) Bittner and Edward (Linda) Bittner; nine grandchildren, Kyle (Ashley) Babcock, Jenna (Jerod) Lucas, Jaci (Adam) Pabst, Lori (Eric) Jones, Jodi Bittner, Tony (Trista) Paul, Jr., Kelly Hoppel, Luke (Taylor) Bittner and Daniel Bittner as well as eleven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Schultheis, Caroline Baehl and Elvira Godeke and by three brothers, Harold, Ralph and Earl Bittner. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rev. John Brosmer officiating.
Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 5:00 PM. Friends may also visit with the family from 12:30 PM until service time on Saturday at Sacred Heart Church, 2701 W. Franklin Street.
