Helen V. (Trapp) Gubler, 94, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at University Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Helen was born in Evansville, Indiana on July 27, 1923 to the late John and Mary Ann (Antey) Trapp. She attended St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from Central High School in 1945 upon her return from World War II.

Helen joined the United States Navy and served in the Navy Waves from September 3, 1943 until December of 1945, where she was stationed… Read More » in Washington, D.C. Helen said, “I am proud to say I was able to serve my country by being a Wave and I’m proud to be an American”. She was a charter member of the Women Military Service for America and the VFW Post 1114 Women’s Auxiliary. Helen was an active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, volunteering for the church socials, bereavement dinners and most recently was a member of All Saints Parish.

She attended beauty college and operated a beauty parlor from her residence on Joan Avenue. Helen’s career spanned 55 years. Helen is survived by her son, Stephen Gubler (Shirley) of Port Charlotte, FL; sister, Adelaide Trapp of Evansville, IN; granddaughters, Julie (Gubler) Leystra of Evansville, IN, Jocelyn Gubler of Los Angeles, CA; great granddaughter, Magan Leystra; and great grandson, Maddox Leystra.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles P. Gubler; an infant son, Mark; her parents; and sisters, Dorothy (Trapp) Wilson and Rita Trapp. A Mass of Christian Burial Funeral will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 2, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 607 E. Iowa St., Evansville, IN 47711. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave. , Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 9:00 AM until service time on Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Deaconess VNA, 610 E. Walnut St., Evansville, IN 47713 or All Saints Parish Catholic Church, 704 N. First Ave.
