Obituary for Sandra Matthews Sandra (Sandy) Matthews, 76, of Evansville, passed away at her home, Sunday, June 24, 2018. Sandy was born April 26, 1942, in Evansville, to the late Robert and Corinne (Biggs) Gates. Sandy graduated from Deaconess School of Nursing in 1963 and was a registered nurse at Deaconess Hospital retiring in 1998.

Sandy was a member of Old North Methodist Church and attended bible study at Salem Methodist Church. She was a member of Howell Golf Club and the Red Hat Society. Sandy was very involved with her grandchildren’s activities and spending time with her grand dogs.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Harold P. Matthews of 54 years; son, Rondle N. Matthews (Lexee); daughter, Melissa (David) Stieler; grandchildren, Kaylane (Jake) Armstrong, Karly, Victoria and Jaycee Mae Matthews, Joshua (Jordan) Stieler, Christian and Grace Stieler; great-grandchildren, Bryson, Wyatt and Salem Armstrong; brother, Joseph C. Gates; sister, Sharon Bragassa; and many nieces and nephews. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Adrianna Matthews; brothers, Bill, Ralph, Lawrence and Mike Gates; sister, Patsy Wells. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Ave.

, Evansville. Visitation will continue Thursday, from 10:00 am -11:00 am at Old North Methodist Church, 4201 Stringtown Rd, Evansville, IN 47711. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am at the church with Rev.

Michael Monahan officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be made to Old North Methodist Church Preschool, 4201 Stringtown Rd.
