Obituary for CSM Dorothy McGill CSM Dorothy McGill, 85, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born July 23, 1932 to the late Chester W. and Agnes V. (Schmitt) McGill. Dorothy graduated from Memorial High School in 1950.

She enlisted in the Army and did an overseas tour in Japan. She earned the rank of Command Sergeant Major and was stationed at many bases throughout the country, including; Ft. Lee in VA, Ft.

Benjamin Harrison in IN, the 5th Army Headquarters in Chicago, IL, Ft. Jackson in SC, Ft. Meade in MD, Ft.

McClellan in AL, Ft. Leonard Wood in MO, and the US Pentagon in Washington, DC. Dorothy retired from the army in 1971.

She then attended USI and graduated in 1977. She is survived by her sister, Sarah McGill Corbin; nephews, Christopher Corbin and David (Kris) W. McGill; niece, Sharon (Daryl Helfert) Hosick. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harold “Buzz” McGill and Chester “Chet” McGill; and friend, Shirley L. Skinner.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 9:00 am-11:00 am at Annunciation Parish, Christ the King Campus, 3101 Bayard Park Dr. with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am with Father Alex Zenthoefer officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery where the Retired Veteran Memorial Club will conduct graveside services. Memorial contributions may be made to Vanderburgh Humane Society, 400 Millner Industrial Dr., Evansville, IN 47710 or Annunciation Parish, Christ the King Campus, 3101 Bayard Park Dr. Evansville, IN 47714.
