Obituary for Margaret R. Donahue James Margaret Rose Donahue James, age 92, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018, at University Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born May 25, 1926 in Evansville, the daughter of the late James J. Donahue Sr. and Mary Veronica Kain. In addition to her parents, her husband Paul Wessesly James preceded her in death in 1988.

Margaret was the last surviving sibling of eight children; brothers, James Jr., Richard, Tom, Willie and Pat Donahue; sisters, Agnes Salazar and Mary Quirk. Her deceased nephew Jim Donahue was her devoted support. Mark Salazar, nephew, also predeceased her.

A 1944 graduate of Memorial High School, Margaret was a strong, independent woman her entire life. This included her professional life in the’ 50s and ’60s when females’ contribution in the workplace was often overlooked. She worked for Sun Oil Company in Evansville for many years.

She belonged to Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, an organization for businesswomen. Margaret was a charter member of the Tri- State Desk & Derrick Club, an association for businesswomen in the petroleum industry. In 1958 she served as president for this professional group, and traveled to Los Angeles, CA for the national convention.

Later she moved to California for work, and married Paul James in 1970. They had 18 happy years together, traveling and enjoying life with friends and family in California and Baja, Mexico. She moved back to Evansville in 1988 to be with extended family members.

Margaret is survived by sister-in-law Patty Donahue and a host of nieces and nephews: Madalyn Conroy, Chris Donahue, Jeff Donahue, Maggie Kayser, Katie Donahue; Cindy Elliott; Jim Quirk Jr., Tom Quirk, Dan Quirk, Margie Wilhite, Julie Kain; Karen Reising, Lori Ploucher, Terry Janison, Tracy Flynn, Tommy Donahue Jr; John Salazar, Lisa Salazar; Pat Donahue Jr., Amy Padgett, Kevin Donahue, Judy Tranor, and Susan Yates. Born and raised Catholic, her faith became even more important in the later years. She attended daily Mass at the University Nursing and Rehab chapel where Fr.

Ted Temple officiated. Her family expresses gratitude to the caregivers and her compassionate friends at University Nursing and Rehab. Memorial contributions can be made to Fr.

Ted’s Crisis Fund at St. Vincent de Paul or to the UNR Auxiliary Fund. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at University Health and Rehabilitation, 1236 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Fr.
