Obituary for Lucretia Hooper BELGRADE – Lucretia J. Hooper, 58, died at home, Sunday, June 17, 2018. Born in Rockland, May 14, 1960, she was the daughter of Robert and Helen Hooper. Educated in Rockland until the 6th grade, she moved with her family to Oakland, where she was a 1978 graduate of Messalonskee High School.
Following graduation Lucretia attended Kennebec Valley Technical College, where she earned her associates degree in business administration. For roughly 18 years she was employed as a caseworker with Maine Job Services. Over the years she has served in various positions and been active with the employee union there.
As a young woman, Lucretia enjoyed traveling with her parents. A loving person, she had a special place in her heart for animals. She supported local animal shelters and even bred and sold kittens at one point.
The ‘Ragdoll’ species was her favorite. She loved her fur babies, especially her dog ‘Sky’ and all of her kitties. She will be sadly missed.
Predeceased by her parents, Lucretia is survived by her brother Joel Hooper and his wife Marti; her niece and nephew Megan and Isaac Hooper all of Mercer; and two special friends who have helped her greatly over the last two years, Cindy Musolff and Mary Sullivich. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 2018 at 104 Limerock, the Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home’s reception facility, in Rockland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society Waterville Area, 100 Webb Road, Waterville, Maine 04901.
