Luis Rey Aleman August 25, 1930 – February 10, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries Luis Rey Aleman, 88, of Hutchinson, died February 10, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born August 25, 1930, in Hutchinson, the son of Arcadio C. and Rita (Garcia) Aleman. Luis graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1948 and attended Salt City Business College.

He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. Luis worked at Cessna Fluid Power for 40 years, retiring as a supervisor. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, VFW Post 1361, a Big Brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Reno County.

Luis also volunteered at Reins of Hope and at local elementary schools helping students with reading and Spanish. On October 21, 1955, he married Verona A. ‘Val’ Leslie in Hutchinson. She died December 2, 2013.

Luis is survived by: children, Becky Huckabey (David), South Hutchinson, Nick Aleman (Tona), Titusville, FL, Tom Aleman (Tami), Gardner, Teresa Hays (Mark), St. John, Cori Johanning (Chad), Little River; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Aleman (Rosemary) and Richard Aleman (Melinda), all of Hutchinson; sisters, Mary Blea and Rosie Vargas, both of Hutchinson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Charles and John; sisters, Lola Torrez, Jennie Enciso, and Betty Aleman. Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2019, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson, officiated by Father Todd Shepherd.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association of Central and Western Kansas or Hospice House, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
