Luisa A. Milam (nee Olvera), age 44, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2018 with her loving family by her side. Luisa is survived by her beloved husband, Kevin Milam; two fur babies, Roscoe and Dottie; brother, Luis Olvera of Louisiana; sister, Lisa Neal of Joliet; special cousin, Nicole Connelley of Louisiana; two nieces, Nieshia Tyler and Janaya Lee; three nephews, Leon Tyler Jr., Justus McGee and Adrian Blalock; two great-nieces; mother-in-love, Geraldine Milam; sister-in-love Deatrah Thomas; and a host of loving family members and friends. She is proceeded in death by her mother, Cindy Diane Connolley and four fur babies, Maxxie, Jules, Shaq and Diamond.

Luisa was born on June 8, 1974 in Winfield, Illinois to father Luis Luico Olvera and mother Cindy Diane Connolley. She was the middle child of three but was known as the “Boss”. She had a fun, feisty, and mischievous personality.

Luisa loved to pull pranks on her sister and brother. She attended Carencro Middle and High school. After spending nearly 20 years in management for KFC, she chose to follow her passion of helping those in need and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy, earning high honors on the Dean’s List at Brown Mackie College.

Once she graduated, she became an Occupational Therapist for Brookdale Rehabilitation. Luisa and Kevin met and fell in love in August of 1990 and became united as one on December 26, 1992. She and Kevin have two loving fur babies, Roscoe and Dotty.

As a couple, Luisa and Kevin loved Bachata dancing, traveling, and enjoying the beach with their fur babies. Her nurturing nature led her to become a second mom to her nieces and nephews, and they developed a very special bond. She loved dressing up for Halloween; it was her favorite holiday, followed by Christmas.

Luisa was a bargain hunter who loved going thrift shopping. In her spare time, she enjoyed yoga, working out, and karaoke. Luisa also had a green thumb and grew various types of plants and flowers in her garden.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A visitation for Luisa will be held on Friday, July 27th, 2018 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Per Luisa’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
