George passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. George was born and raised in Joliet. He spent his entire life there.

He made his home with his beloved wife Donna Gilroy (nee Likar) whom he married on April 18, 1966. George was a mechanic by trade. He enjoyed working on and restoring vintage cars.

George was a man of few words. He enjoyed listening to music of the 60’s and took great pride in caring for his yard. He was proud to be an American and supported the United Sates Military.

Preceded in death by his loving grandmother who raised him, Maria Hontios Paputsas and two infant sons. George is survived by his loving wife, Donna Gilroy; numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Clayton Dieter. Donna would like to thank the Joliet Area Community Hospice staff and her nieces, Barbi Ruffatto, Debbie Durando and nephew, Andy Liker, for taking such great care of George.

In accordance with George’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. At his request no services will be held.
