Lurita Landolfi Soprano, 81, returned to her heavenly home on February 11, 2018 after bravely battling cancer. Her devotion to and love for her family, along with her firm belief in God, comforted her throughout her illness. Lurita was born on October 2, 1936 to the late William and Anna Landolfi in Irvington, New Jersey.
She graduated from Upsala College where she met the love of her life, Dr. Samuel Soprano, whom she married on August 16, 1958. They moved to Scotch Plains, New Jersey where Lurita joked she spent the 1960s pregnant with her four daughters. In 1968, Lurita and Sam built their second home in Lake Naomi, PA where she was a proud member for 51 years.
Lurita stayed home to raise her daughters and returned to work in the 1980s. From her homebase on the 99th floor of 2 World Trade Center, her work took her all over the world until she retired in 1995 as Director of Customer Service and Training for Transax Data. After retiring, Lurita and Sam moved to Florida where she enjoyed playing tennis, golf and Mahjong.
Lurita was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a devout Catholic who was kind and loving to everyone she met. She sang for several church choirs over the years, most recently at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in PA.
She proudly traveled to Vatican City to sing at St. Peter’s Basilica with her choir. She was also a member of the Women’s Cornerstone at St. Maximilian Kolbe, the Pathfinders, and the Pacesetters. Lurita is survived by her four daughters and their husbands, LauriAnn Soprano and Charles Hertz of Andover, MA, Susan and Paul Frazier of Salem, NH, Grace and James Butler of Glenmoore, PA, and Joyce Soprano and Thomas Chell of Salt Lake City; her eight grandchildren, Madeline and Angela Hertz, Meredith Chiricosta (and husband Stephen Chiricosta), Kenneth and Brian Frazier, Renee and James Butler, and Boden Chell; and her sister-in-law Josephine Barbella of Toms River, NJ; along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Samuel Anthony Soprano, her sister Gloria Denton, and her parents William and Anna Landolfi. There will be three opportunities to celebrate Lurita’s life: New Hampshire – Visiting hours will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., including chapel service at 7:30 p.m., at Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079. Pennsylvania – A funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 5112 Pocono Crest Road, Pocono Pines, PA 18350.
