Mr. Mack Jones “Macky” Motes, Jr. age 72 of Aragon passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019. Mr. Motes was born November 22, 1946 in Rome, son of the late Mack Jones Motes, Sr. and the late Juanita White Motes. He attended Rockmart High School and was of the Baptist faith.

Being a self-employed mechanic, he was a life-long auto enthusiast and known as a Chrysler product specialist. He was an avid racing fan beginning at an early age with go karts, then he enjoyed drag racing for many years, eventually finding his love of dirt track racing and was inducted into the Dirt Track Hall of Fame. Survivors include his wife, Teresa Wills Motes of Aragon to whom he was married September 21, 1970; two daughters and sons-in-law, Stacy and Scotty Swift of Aragon and Cherise and Jason Whittenburg of Rockmart; four grandchildren, Tyler Mack Motes and his wife Stephanie, Ashley Cherie Graham, McDuffy Shaw Waldrop and Landon Parker Waldrop; and two great-grandchildren, Henley Mackenzy Motes and Fowler Mack Motes.

Funeral services for Macky will be held on Saturday March 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Dr. Tony Weaver and Mr. Jason Whittenburg officiating. Entombment services will be held at a later date in the family lot of Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Billy Wills, Phil Williams, Chuck Mansell, Tyles Motes, McDuffy Waldrop, Landon Waldrop and Joe Coffman.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Freddie Lewis, Charles Ingle, Larry Elsberry and Gus Garrison.
