Obituary for Maggie Townsend Mary Magdalene “Maggie” Townsend, age 88, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 5:58 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Lucy Smith King Care Center under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. Maggie was a lifetime member of Henderson General Baptist Church. She graduated from Barret Manual Training High School.

Maggie worked for J.J. Newberry’s for 20 years, the Red Poppy Boutique for 10 years. For the past 34 years she worked at Alles Brothers Furniture and was due to retire October 1st. She enjoyed traveling with her lady friends.

The relationships she made through her years of employment were very special to her. She stayed in touch with them by hosting a Christmas party for the girls from Newberry’s and Alles Brothers each year. Maggie was preceded in death by her husband; William “Sonny” Townsend, her parents; Clarence and Nellie Winstead and son Timothy Townsend.

Survivors include: 1 Son: Larry “Ox” Townsend and his wife Debbie of Henderson, KY 1 Daughter: Sherri Switzer and her husband Keith of Owensboro, KY 7 Grandchildren: Derick Townsend, Whitney Diggs, Cameron Switzer, Keri Switzer, Clay Switzer, Jacob Townsend and Joshua Townsend 7 Great Grandchild Nieces and Nephews Relatives and friends are invited to Maggie’s Life Celebration from 1:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday at Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the Henderson General Baptist Church with Reverend Chad Hensley and Reverend Dan Book officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
