Obituary for Marceline Inez Ealy Marceline Inez Ealy (Barton) – Marceline Ealy passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 16, 2018, at the age of 104. She was known by many loving names, notably Honey, Mama, Mom, Momo, and Nana. Marceline Barton was born in Plaquemine Parish, LA on December 31, 1913, the youngest of 8 children, into the family of Aid and Katie Barton.
Her dad gave her the nickname, “Honey”, because of her honey-blond hair. When she was a young woman, she went to visit her brother, Bill, in Tampico, Mexico where he worked in the oil fields. He introduced her to the man she would marry: Tracy Frank Ealy.
After their marriage in 1935, they lived in Maracaibo, Venezuela where he worked for Royal Dutch Shell. They had a happy life there for 16 years, including raising their first child, Patricia Ann. When Honey’s husband retired from Shell Oil, the family moved to San Antonio, TX.
Their second child, Tracy John, was born there in 1954. Honey was a loving wife and mother, whose main focus in life was to love and serve her family. When her husband passed away in 1971, she started work as an Early Childhood classroom assistant at an SAISD elementary school.
She loved working with the little ones, and did so for 11 years, until retirement. Marceline was known for her outgoing and loving personality. She was a social butterfly, and her favorite thing was having family and friends over for a meal that she would lovingly prepare.
She loved spending time in her garden, tending to the beautiful flowers that she planted, and going to the San Antonio Rose Society meetings. Marceline was a faithful member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church for 30 years, and was always happy to see her fellow parishioners at the 6:00 pm Mass. Honey resided at Brookdale Senior Living for the last 5 years of her life, where she was well taken care of.
We would like to thank all the caregivers at Brookdale Hospice & Assisted Living for treating her with such loving care. Marceline is survived by her children: Patricia Ealy Schrader, and Tracy Ealy, and 5 grandchildren: Melvin Patrick Schrader, James Scott Schrader, Tammy Patrice Schrader, Trey Jordan Ealy, and Kathryn Ealy Johnson, and 6 great-grandchildren.
