Abingdon, Va. Margaret (Maggie) Margerum, a longtime resident of Abingdon, was born June 13, 1923 and passed away June 24, 2018. She was born in Audobon, N. J. to Violet Puff and Earl McDonough.

She was a faithful member of Green Spring Presbyterian Church in Abingdon. Margaret was the matriarch of five generations and she never tired of spending time with all of them. Her sweet smile, gentle spirit and willingness to serve her community will be missed by all.

She… Read More » was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Wilbur (Bill) Margerum, sister Jane Bloom and brother Howard McDonough. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law Bobbi and Bob Lowe, and Kathi and Leighton Lowe; grandchildren Fred, Peggi, Ginni, Beth, Christy and Matthew; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sisters Ruth Werner and Carolyn Reynolds. The family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff of Grace Health Care; Dr. Bill Baker and nurse Belinda; and her faithful Green Spring family.

A memorial service for Margaret (Maggie) Margerum will be held at Green Spring Presbyterian Church, 22007 Green Spring Church Road, Abingdon, VA 24211, on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to her church.
