(nee Jensen) Margaret Anne Vissers was given the gift of life on August 20, 1965 and, after 52 years filled with joy, love and compassion, returned that gift on July 15, 2018. Diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in October 2015, Margaret faced her many obstacles with dignity, bravery, and strength. She came to rest peacefully in her home, surrounded by family.
An avid reader, Margaret lived a thousand lives through her books. When not reading or enjoying the company of her many friends, she loved bird watching with her two cats and dog. She was a lifelong fan of Wisconsin sports teams, always cheering the Packers and Brewers, as well as UW-Wisconsin and Marquette athletics.
As a respiratory therapist of 19 years at All Saints in Racine—often working in the NICU—Margaret’s life was a model of compassion: an example she hoped to set for others. Margaret is survived by her mother Yolanda Jensen, her husband of 32 years Marvin, daughter Bailey (Kyle), and son Samuel (Sarah). She was the youngest of eight, baby sister to Kathryn (James), Virginia (Patrick), Jane, Susan (Victor), Stephen (Katherine), and Carl (Cheri).
Margaret follows her father William and older brother Patrick into eternal life. She was loved by many nieces, nephews, friends and coworkers. The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to all who cared for Margaret throughout her diagnosis: Dr. Chitambar, Rachel, Jessie, Carol and the staff of the Froedert Breast Care Center; Dr. Lawton and his palliative care team at Froedert; Gina at Froedert’s Cancer Center Rehab Services; Dr. Christensen, Lindsey, John, Maggie, Rolanda and the staff at Reiman Cancer Center; and the Horizon Home Care & Hospice nursing staff.
