Margarete D. Chrobak, 94, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019. Margarete was born April 22, 1924 in Magaburg, Germany, to the late Gustuv and Minna (Kutscher) Friedrich. On April 26, 1947 Margarete married Stanley Chrobak who preceded her in death on December 21, 1987.

Margarete worked at Anchor Savings and Loan, she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Polish Falcons. Margarete is survived by a daughter, Ann Schreeg of Long Beach, Indiana; two sons, Joe (Sandie) Chrobak of Albertville, Minnesota and Steve (Terri) Chrobak of La Porte, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Scott (Elizabeth) Schreeg, Laura Schreeg, Jeffrey Schreeg, Jamie (Derrick Loiselle) Chrobak, Janell (Cameron) Renstrom, Jenni (Tommy) Schroeder, Nathan (Alanna) Whybrew, Ryan Whybrew, Joel (Courtney) Chrobak, and Sarah (Adam) Conrad; and nine great-grandchildren, Isabella, Abigail, Jackson and Viviana Schreeg, Ellie Whybrew, Zach Whybrew, Molly Schroeder, and Bennett and Hadley Conrad. She was preceded in death by a sister, Irmgard Keehn.

A Celebration of Life will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, with a memorial service at 6 p.m. Reverend Ian Williams will officiate. A burial of ashes will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Pine Lake Cemetery. Please share prayers, condolences and memories with the family at Essling Funeral Home.com.
