Obituary for Mrs. Marian Jupenlaz Austin Marian Jupenlaz Austin, 96, went to see her Lord and Savior Jesus on May 29, 2018, at Carriage House. She was born November 29, 1921, Pennsylvania, to the late Fred and Margaret Howe Jupenlaz. She was well-loved by all her family and by the staff at Carriage House Inn.

As a first grade teacher for over 30 years, she affected many lives. In retirement, she used those teaching skills to teach her grandchildren to read and write. She herself was an avid reader who lived a very active life until recently.

Those that knew her used the word “spunky” to describe her. Even into her 90s, she was very involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially Paul and Nancy Blackwell of Birmingham.

She is predeceased by her husband, First Lieutenant Alferd Hiram Austin, and her parents, sister and brother. Marian is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Brandt (Mark) and Wendy McGrath (Jerry); five grandchildren, Benjamin, Kris, Matthew, Josh and Jenny; 11 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, Jackson, Chloe, Addyson, Everett, Alex, Alayna, Maxwell, Avery, Brooks; and two nieces, Jody and Lynn. There will be a private memorial at a later date.
