Obituary for Mr. George Franklin Clanton George Franklin Clanton, 92 of Shelbyville, TN passed away on Thursday June 21, 2018. Funeral services will be held on 1:30 PM, Sunday June 24, 2018, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Brother Charles Williams will officiate, with burial to follow at Horse Mountain Cemetery in Shelbyville.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was born in Shelbyville on June 22, 1925 to Willie and Ester Clanton. He married Louise Hurt on Dec.

20 1947 and they enjoyed 70 years together. He worked at Dixie Home Feeds, Model Sportswear, and also owned and operated a dairy farm. His favorite things included camping, fishing, quail and coon hunting.

He also enjoyed breeding and training bird dogs along with playing ROOK with his friends at the Senior Citizens Center. He was a prior deacon of Hurricane Grove Baptist Church and was a member of Fair Haven Baptist Church. Preceding him in death were sisters, Helen Burrahm and Martha Parsons, and a great grandchild, Christian Allen Cook.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Hurt Clanton, of Shelbyville; two daughters, Janice (David) Hastings, of Petersburg and Linda (Howard) Nichols, of Shelbyville; a brother, Edward Clanton; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Janeane) Taylor, Angie(Kevin) Gunter, Jill (Scott) Cook, and Clint Nichols; step grandchildren, Jill (Jody) Dunivan, Melissa Mitchell, and Chad Hastings; great grandchildren, Drew Taylor, Zac Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Hayden Gunter, Jordyn Cook, and Jayla Cook. A special “Thank You” to Mary, Stacy, Jon and all the staff at Willow Brook Hospice for your kindness and professional care. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
