(D’Alberto) Babula, 75, of Sugarloaf, died Saturday at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born in Hazleton, December 29, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Ciocco) D’Alberto and was a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Parish, West Hazleton. Marie was a 1961 graduate of Berwick High School and until her retirement in 2009, was employed as an insurance billing clerk for HealthCare Billing of Hazleton.

She enjoyed trips to the casino, baking cookies with her grandchildren, making meatballs, sharing lunches with former classmates and playing games on her tablet. She was an avid Phillies fan and loved the beach. Marie will most be remembered by her family as being a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.

She is only preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her husband of 49 years, John R. Babula; daughters Angela Stuart and her husband Eric of Danville, Kimberly Babula of Lykens and Jonene Chomiszewski and her husband Anthony III of Millersburg and grandchildren Tyler Babula, Brett Stuart, Lauren Stuart, Andrew Barnett, Owen Barnett and baby Chomiszewski. Also surviving are brothers Anthony D’Alberto and his wife Janice of Berwick and Nicholas D’Alberto of Moosic; sister Annette McHugh and her husband Michael of West Pittston and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday and will begin at 11:00 AM in the Butler Chapel of Krapf and Hughes Funeral Home, Inc. 530 West Butler Drive, Drums. The service will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 12:00 noon in the Holy Name of Jesus Parish, West Hazleton. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
