Marie Hughes, age 87, of Rutledge, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Bill Head Funeral Home, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel. Interment will follow in Livsey Memorial Cemetery in Tucker.

A native of Decatur, Georgia, Mrs. Hughes was mostly a homemaker but was employed for a time with the Dekalb County School System. Marie enjoyed sending greeting cards to shut-ins and others and she also enjoyed reading and sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Clifton Marvin Hughes.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Hughes Underwood (James) of Duluth; son and daughter-in-law, Ed Hughes (Lisa) of Marietta; grandchildren, Traci Cronan (John), Lauren Hughes and Clark Hughes; great grandchildren, Rachel Cronan and Emily Cronan; brothers, Jerry Harris of Barnesville and Marvin Harris of Conyers; heart sisters, Sue Freeman of Gainesville and Bessie Cooke of Wilmington, NC. The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, (770) 564-2726.
