Marie (Layport) Sugaski October 1, 1929 – June 1, 2018 Marie (Layport) Sugaski, 88, residing in Florence, AL passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Marie was born on October 1, 1929 in Oberlin, OH to the late Oliver and Elsi (Tohurst) Layport. Marie retired as a machine operator from the Hamilton Beach Company, formerly known as the Westinghouse Company.

She was also a US Postal mail carrier on North Bass Island. Marie… Read More » was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Norwalk. She enjoyed playing bingo and gambling.

Marie was a kind hearted person and made every stranger feel like a friend. Her greatest joy was spending time with all her family. Marie is survived by her seven children, Butch (Pam) Sugaski of Bloomville, OH, Sherry (Leon) Bonds of Florence, AL, Janice (Stewart) Girggs of Vickery, OH, Thersea Yates of Belleville, MI, Terry (Larry) Story of Norwalk, OH, Clayton (Debbie) Sugaski and Jon (Missy) Sugaski both of Norwalk; 32 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Jr; granddaughters, Mysti and Darlene, and grandsons, David and Terry. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 11:00 am.

Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Those wishing to contribute to Marie’s memory may do so to Cancer Services of Erie County, 505 E. Perkins Ave. , Sandusky, OH 44870.
