Obituary for Marie Little Dateline: Alton, IL Marie Little, 95, died at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Jerseyville Manor. She was born August 22, 1923 in Portageville, MO the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Luziller (Portwood) Toombs. She was a member of Cornerstone Church in Godfrey where she participated in the Joy Club.

She worked for many years as a clerk at the Gamble Bargain Barn in West Alton, MO. On June 15, 1940 in Portageville, MO she married Alvis S. Little and he preceded her in death on February 9, 2001. Surviving are two daughters, Alice Gorin (Edward Sr.) of Piasa and Diane Niemeyer (Carroll “Junie”) of Winter Haven, FL, two sons, Jim Little of East Alton and Johnny Little (Ginger) of Owensboro, Kentucky, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren, two sisters, Betty Lou Powell (John) and Peggy Sue Moore (Raymond) both of Dexter, MO.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday September 14, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Pastor Jim Kiel officiating. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.
