Obituary for Mark Arthur Bode GREENFIELD – Mark Arthur Bode, age 83, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018 at Community Hospital North. He was born on February 1, 1935 in Richmond, IN as the son of Arthur John Henry and Helen E. (Bullerdick) Bode. Mark graduated from Richmond High School in 1953.

He served in the U.S. Army. In 1960, he graduated from Indiana Mortuary College. Mr. Bode had a lifelong passion for learning, he attended Indiana University, Earlham College, and I.U.P.U.I. Mark married Maggie (Oster) on June 15, 1957 in Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

He worked as a purchasing agent for many years at Westinghouse Air Brake, retiring in 1983 and also at Methodist Hospital, retiring in 1996. Mark was a funeral director for Condo & Son for several years. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, where he served on the finance committee.

Mark was also a member of the Greenfield Lions Club. He enjoyed taking photos, woodworking, gardening and history. Mark is survived by his wife, Maggie Bode of Greenfield; daughters, Melinda (Dave) Miller of Greenfield and Melissa (Harvey) Buck of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Heather, Alex, Rachel, Eric, Elena, and Evan; and three great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alan “Doug” Bode. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 1741 S. State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140. Pastor Larry Gember will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
