Obituary for Marlene K. Gempel Marlene K. (Cheaney) Gempel, age 58, of Evansville, left this world in peace on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Deaconess Hospital Gateway Campus. Marlene was born April 1, 1960 in Evansville to the late Walter E. and Mary Ann (Seibert) Cheaney. She worked as a cook at the Old Mill Restaurant for almost 20 years.

She was a wonderful cook and masterful in her kitchen. Surviving Marlene are her husband of 31 years, Dr. Douglas R. Gempel; two sisters, Sharon (Dan) Voelker of Evansville and Charlene (Randy) Heidorn of Newburgh; two brothers, Gene (Pam) Cheaney and Ralph (Sandra) Cheaney, both of Wadesville and a sister-in-law, Virginia Cheaney. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Michele Cheaney, Taylor Heidorn, Tim Voelker, Bradford Cheaney, Jennifer Cheaney, Brett Cheaney, Matthew Voelker and Gina Flake; great nieces and great nephews, and two great great nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Cheaney. Funeral services for Marlene will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, Pastor Terry Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Mt.

Pleasant Cemetery in Poseyville, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the LAM Foundation, 4520 Cooper Road #300, Cincinnati, OH 45242.
