Martha (Marty) Jean Skaggs Brown, 86, departed this life at 1:15 A.M, July 20, 2018 under the care of Lucy Smith King Care Center for a new life with her Jesus. She was born on December 10, 1931 in Henderson KY to George and Mable (Howton) Skaggs. Marty worked at the General Accounting Office in Washington, D.C and was later transferred to the Tokyo, Japan office.

She then became an employee of the Henderson County School System as secretary and office manager at Jefferson Elementary School.

Serving under five different principals, after twenty plus years she retired. Marty was a very loving and God – Loving mother and spouse. She never said an unkind word toward anyone.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Glenda Sue Skaggs, Elizabeth (Tib) Shelton and Aleene Nelson; brothers Alvin, Alvis, Ray, James and Roy Allen Skaggs. She is survived by her spouse Edward ( Russ) Brown of 63 years; her daughter Julia Anne Nantz (her husband Damon) and son Vincent R. Brown; grandchildren Russel Kohl Oettle, Isaac C. Oettle, step granddaughter Sarah Nantz; one brother David Lee Skaggs and his wife Geraldine; Sisters in-law Marilyn Haire and Beverly Skaggs. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M Monday July 23, 2018 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson with Reverend David Simpson officiating.

Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation wills be 2-6 P.M. Sunday July 22, 2018 and on Monday 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Russell Kohl Oettle, Isaac C Oettle, Damon Nantz, Gene Powell, Buddy Newman and Hugh Ligon.

Memorial contributions can be made to St Anthony’s Hospice or New Hope Baptist Church.
