Obituary for Vernon Frank Jessen Vernon Frank Jessen, age 92, of Evansville, IN, formerly of Henderson, KY passed away at 5:55 a.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at The Terrace at Solarbron in Evansville, IN under the care of Heart to Heart Hospice. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Evelyn Jessen, and his wife, Kathryn Jessen. Vernon was a United States WWII Army Veteran, earning a bronze star, and purple heart.
He was a lifelong member of the Tenth Mountain Divisional during WWII. He worked at Nabisco Company in the accounts payable and traffic department for 40 years before retiring. He was a member of numerous organizations including; past master and member of the Emulation Lodge #255 in Clinton, Iowa, a 32nd Degree Mason with the Rizpah Shriner’s #8, Rizpah Legion of Honor, both in Madisonville, Kentucky, Masonic Lodge #244, F.& A.M., the American Legion Worsham Post #40, in Henderson, Kentucky where he served on the Honor Guard for many years, and the 40 & 8 Society.
He enjoyed traveling and camping. Survivors include: 1 Son: Douglas Vernon Jessen and his wife Marjorie of Newburgh, Indiana 1 Sister: Velma Frame of Clinton, Iowa 5 Grandchildren: Elizabeth Jessen of Evansville, IN Michael Jessen of Connecticut Matthew Jessen (Tina) of Chesterton, IN Brian Jessen of Evansville, IN Kimberly Kroll (Kurt) of Albion, IL 14 Great Grandchildren 10 Great Great Grandchildren Numerous Nieces and Nephews Relatives and friends are invited to Vernon’s Life Celebration from 10:00 a.m. until the service time on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Daniels officiating.
Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Wayne County, Illinois. A masonic service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Full military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40.
