Ted Warren Nance, 78, of Onton, passed away Monday September 24, 2018 at his home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. He was born on July 29, 1940 to the late Henry Fletcher and Mary Thelma (Dickerson) Nance. Ted was a member of Onton United Methodist Church for 69 years where he was a Trustee and Vice Chairman of the Administative Board.

He was also Scout Master for Troop #3 in the church for 12 years. Ted’s work and dedication to his church was very important… Read More » to him. Ted served in the US Army during the Berlin Crisis where he was Sergeant First Class Tank Commander and was the recipient of Active Duty Accommodation.

Ted was a Master Electrician belonging to the IBEW Local 1701 for 58 years. He also taught the trade at Owensboro Technical Vocational School, was employed at Galloway Electric for 20 years as well as spending several years as an Electrical Inspector for Texas Gas. He enjoyed hunting, motorcycling and camping with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sons Bradley Nance, Stuart Nance, brother Gary F. Nance and sister Glenda Ford. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Lana (Jobe) Nance, 1 son Shane Nance and wife Sandra of Onton, brother-in-laws Bill Ford and wife Marcia of Spottsville, KY, Rodney Jobe and wife Lana of Ft. Myers, FL, sister-in-law Shirley Nance of Onton, 11 grandchildren: Logan Nance and wife Samantha of Midway, KY, Leslie Gamblin and husband Jared of Madisonville, Brittany Nance of Clay, Alexandra Norman of Onton, Madison Nance of Onton, Cody Johnson of Onton, Warren Nance of Sebree, Faith Nance of Sebree, Fallyn Nance of Onton, Katilyn Garrett of Onton, Grant Nance of Sebree, 8 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday September 29, 2018 at Onton United Methodist Church with Bro. Marty Robertson and Bro. Chris Lewis officiating.

Visitation will be Friday 2-8PM at Onton United Methodist Church and Saturday 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Burial will be in Onton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rodrick Nance, Brent Nance, Steve Nance, Clint Ford, Michael Jobe, Chad Clark and Ian Jobe.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Onton United Methodist Building Fund. Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel is handling arrangements.
