Marvin Louis Coleman was born on August 7, 1939 in Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late John Henry and Minnie Coleman. He departed this life on Sunday, December 16, 2018 after a long illness. “Marty,” as he was affectionately known by those who knew and loved him, was educated in the Linden Public School system and graduated from Linden High School in 1957.

His last occupation before retiring was working in security at the Elizabethport Branch Library in Elizabeth which he called “The Little Red School House”. He was predeceased by five brothers: Tillman, Douglas, Linton (Red), Lawrence (Pop) and Jerry; and two sisters: Doris and Louise.

Marvin Louis Coleman leaves to mourn his wife, Joyce Elaine Coleman; two daughters: Marva Coleman and Jana Coleman-Thompson which he had with his previous wife, Betty Jean Coleman; sister, Joan Coleman Larkins; one granddaughter, Jantese Tyesha Coleman; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends whom will miss him dearly. One bible verse that he would quote often, “In my Father’s house, there are many mansions and if not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you”. John 14:2 God has prepared a place for Marvin Louis Coleman.

Daddy you fought the good fight now just rest and be at peace with GOD.
