Obituary for Marvin S. Kaplan Marvin S. Kaplan, Professor Emeritus Kent State University, College of Education and Director of School Psychological Services for Lansing MI Public Schools was born in Brooklyn NY. He was a graduate of City College of New York. After serving in the US Army he earned his Ph.

D at Michigan State University where he met his wife of 60 years, Helga. He died on May 8, 2018 at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham Kaplan and Frances Cohen and his sister Claire Kellman.

He is survived by his wife, Helga Kaplan; daughters, Heidi (Michael) Levey and Lisa (Gideon) Shaanan; grandchildren, Brian (Rachel) Levey, Benjamin Levey, Deena Levey, Leah (Elshaday) Belay and Maya Shaanan; great grandchildren, Judah and Caleb Levey. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 10 at Wexner Heritage House, 1151 College Ave. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn – Temple Israel section.

Shiva will be observed at the home of Heidi and Michael Levey, on Thursday from 5:30 pm to 7:30pm.
