Mary A. Shuboy, 81, of Mancelona, passed away on February 28, 2019 at Medilodge of Traverse City. Mary was born on September 7, 1937, in Forest Home Township, MI, the daughter of Louie and Edith (Hill) DeJonge. Mary always enjoyed her knitting and crocheting.

She enjoyed helping youngsters as a foster parent for 30+ years. She also enjoyed her church and gospel music. She participated in many events throughout the years for her children, foster children and grandchildren.

She is survived by 3 children, John Shuboy of Mancelona, Karen (Matthew) Sullivan of Buckley, Sharon Whitcher of Prudenville, 4 grandchildren: Ashley and Ty Whitcher, Amanda and Matthew (wife Amanda) Sullivan, a sister Allie DeJonge of WI, and a sisters-in-law Eva DeJonge of Mancelona and Helen Shuboy of Macomb, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerome “Jerry” Shuboy, daughter Mary Bellinger, brother James DeJonge, sisters Luella Mapes and Elsie Powers and her parents. There will be a graveside service in the spring at Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
