Funeral services for Mary Christine (Dunbar) Kidd, 89, of Edgewood, are scheduled for 3:00 PM, Monday, April 30, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Edgewood with visitation starting at 2:00 PM. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. Christine Kidd passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018, in Tyler, TX.

Mary Christine Dunbar was born on Christmas, December 25, 1928, in Edgewood, TX, to parents, Joseph Marvin Dunbar and Mary Jettie Wilson Dunbar. She was raised in Edgewood, TX and graduated from Edgewood High School in 1947. Christine married Roy Lee Kidd on December 14, 1947 and they made their home in Edgewood, TX, sharing 68 loving years together.

Throughout her life, Christine had many careers. She was a telephone operator, and an accomplished seamstress, who held many positions in that field. Christine also volunteered in several positions for the Edgewood Volunteer Fire Department such as an EMT.

Christine also had many hobbies. Every year, she looked forward to planning and hosting a table for the Annual Tea Party hosted by her Sunday school class at First Baptist Church in Edgewood. She was also known throughout the community for her tea cakes and creativity.

She could take a weed and turn it into a piece of art. Christine took great delight in creating and sharing her quilts with family and friends. Her giving spirit blessed many people throughout her life as she served as a caregiver, friend, sister, mother and wife.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee and her parents, Marvin and Jettie Dunbar; daughter, Julie Manette Kidd; grandson, George Michael Wallace, Jr.;son-in-law, George Michael Wallace, Sr.; and sisters, Lavone Craddock, Daphne Hammock and Louise Jefferson. Christine is survived by her daughters, Linda Wallace of Ponder, TX, Mary Lea Messer of Tyler, TX, and Dena Kidd of Amarillo, TX; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
