Schu May 06, 1929 – December 31, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Mount Carmel – Mary E. “Marion” Schu, 89, of 343 W. 4th Street, passed on Monday, December 31, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Mount Carmel on May 6, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Rolko) Tomtishen. She was a 1947 graduate of Mount Carmel High School.
Marion was employed as an aide at Geisinger Medical Center. She was married to the late Paul J. Schu. She was a member of the Church of Our Lady.
Marion was a devout Catholic. She loved her faith and her parish. She was particularly devoted to the Blessed Mother and prayed the rosary daily.
Known for her kindness and hospitality, Marion loved company and always welcomed everyone. She especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grand children. Marion is survived by a son, Thomas Schu, and his wife Sheila from Shunk; a daughter, Sandra Rusnak and her husband Thomas of Mount Carmel; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Schu of Mount Carmel; eight grandchildren, Michael Schu, William Schu, Richard Ortwine and his wife Kristine, Rachael Schu, Robert Schu and his wife Rachael, Brenda Kassab and her husband Jim, Christopher Schu and his wife Rebecca and Kriza Rusnak; thirteen great grandchildren; four sister-in-laws, Gloria Tomtishen of Mount Carmel, Delores Tomtishen of Mount Carmel, Patricia Schu of Elysburg, Louise Beck of West Chester; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert P. Schu; four brothers, John Tomtishen and his wife Shirley, Joseph Tomtishen, Albert Tomtishen, Leonard Tomtishen and his wife Dorothy; three brother-in-laws, Karl Schu and his wife Nancy, Eugene Schu, and Joseph Beck. Marion was the last surviving member of her family. FUNERAL NOTICE Mary Schu, 89, of 343 W. 4th Street, Mount Carmel – Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Church of Our Lady, 47 South Market St., Mount Carmel with Father Frank Karwacki, officiating.
Burial will be held in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. Viewing will be held Friday morning from 9:00 – 10:45 with Transferal Prayers at 10:00 in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 North Vine Street, C.J. Lucas IV, Supervisor.
