Mary Elizabeth Anderson Sampson, 86, of Summerville, SC, widow of the late Donald Lee Sampson, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019. Graveside Services will be Sunday afternoon, January 20, 2019 at 3 o’clock in Plantation Memorial Gardens. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 269 Calhoun Street, Charleston SC 29401, or Frances Willis SPCA, PO Box 1116, Summerville, SC 29484.

Mary was born October 28, 1932 in Xenia Village, Illinois, a daughter of the late Merle Anderson and Ione Gahan Anderson. She worked for Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Mary was an avid gardener, enjoyed bird watching, and loved keeping up with current affairs.

Mary leaves behind her daughters, Connie Violi and husband Rodney of Indiana, PA, Diana Sampson of Moncks Corner, SC, and Laura Lewis and husband Cornell of Summerville, SC; her brother, Jerry Anderson of Clear Lake, TX; sister-in-laws, Evelyn Sanford of Shannon, MS and Barbara Sampson of Westfield, IN; grandchildren, Jason Strickland, CourtneyVioli, Kristy Violi, Dawn Trace, Samuel Hormell, Benjamin Hormell, Lisa De Los Santos, and Marc Lewis; great-granddaughters, Kayla, Izabella, Iliana, Natalia, Bella, Ande, Emma, and Paisley; great-grandsons, Sampson and Samson; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary is predeceased by a sister, Leslie McGrew; and a great-grandson, Carter.
